Two devotees of the Biswa Ijtema died of cardiac arrest at Tongi 50-bed Government Hospital in the district on Thursday and Friday. The deceased are Omar Ali, 48, hailed from Ramerkanda village in Keraniganj of Dhaka and Abdul Mazid Pramanik, 70, of Metuali village at Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj. Sources at the hospital said when Omar fell sick at a tent of Biswa Ijtema he was taken to the hospital around 8am today where doctors declared him dead. Meanwhile, Abdul Majid died at the same hospital around 9pm on Thursday. Tongi Hospital Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury said both devotees died of cardiac arrest.
