Keraniganj – Two people were murdered in separate incidents in Keraniganj on the on the outskirts of the capital on Tuesday. A young man was killed by his younger brother over a family feud in Kaliganj Purbapara area in the evening.
The deceased was identified as Yahiya Mohammad Ratan, 30, son of Mohammad Ibrahim of the area. Locals said Ratan had an altercation with other family members, including younger brother Rony, over a family matter in the morning.As a sequel to the incident, Rony stabbed Ratan indiscriminately around 5pm, leaving him dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital.
Meanwhile, Rony went into hiding just after the incident.
In separate incident, a newlywed housewife was killed allegedly by her husband over dowry in Kushiarbagh in the afternoon.
The victim was identified as Mousumi, 22, wife of Raju Hossain of the area and daughter of Monir Hossain of Patkarchar in the same upazila.
Family sources said Mousumi was married off to Raju about two months back.
Since the marriage, Raju and his family members had been demanding dowry from Mousumi’s father to start a business. But, Monir expressed his inability to meet the demand, which infuriated Raju’s family.
On Tuesday, Mousumi was beaten by Raju at about 5pm, leaving her severely injured.
Locals informed Mousumi’s mother Salma Begum about the incident who rushed in and found her daughter dead
Following the death, Raju went into hiding.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy. – UNB
