Cash dividend, bonus from UAE-BD Investment Co

The UAE-Bangladesh Investment Company Limited on Thursday handed over cash dividend worth Tk 49 lakh and bonus shares worth Tk 13.90 crore to Finance Minister AMA Muhith for the 2012 calendar year against the government’s stake in the company.Deputy Chairman of the company and Bank and Financial Institution Division Secretary Dr M Aslam Alam handed over the bonus shares worth Tk 13.90 crore for the calendar year 2012 to Finance Minister AMA Muhith at a simple ceremony at the Ministry of Finance.
Company Director Musfeka Ikfat handed over the cheque of cash dividend worth Tk 49 lakh for the 2012 calendar year to the Finance Minister while company managing director Dr SM Akbar handed over a crest to Muhith marking the company’s 25 years of establishment.
High officials of the Finance Ministry were present on the occasion.
Speaking briefly on the occasion, Muhith said that it is often heard that the government institutions incurred losses, but it gives a good feeling when a two-country company like the UAE-Bangladesh Investment Company Limited performs well and makes profit.
Mentioning that the company has not incurred any loss and has not posted any Non-Performing Loan till date, he said it’s a good achievement and quite unusual considering the culture of Bangladesh.
Incorporated in 1987, the UAE-Bangladesh Investment Company Limited has approved a total 33 projects over the years with an investment growth of 605.80 percent and net profit growth of 554.52 percent.
Company sources said that share value growth of the company since 1989 is 81.18 percent and it has created employment opportunities for some 10,000 workforce through various projects. (Source: UNB)
