Kotchandpur police have arrested newly elected Kotchandpur upazila vice chairman and secretary of local Jamaat Islami Bangladesh from upazila parishod on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Moabia Hossain of Kotchandpur thana. Kotchandpur upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Deb Prasad Pal said police have arrested him from Kotchandpur upazila parishod.Kotchandpur thana officer in charge Fazlur Rahman said there were various types of cases such as setting ablaze and vandalising vote centers against him, but he was freed from higher court for a few days. He was arrested allegedly for creating panic in the few days in the area.
Sources said two months ago a local Jamaat leader who was also a primary school teacher was arrested from his house and was later killed ‘in a gunfight’ in Kotchandpur, Shahneawz Khan Sumon
