Dhaka-A leader of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) was gunned down by some unidentified miscreants in Sluice Gate area of Sadar Upazila on Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Mithun Chakma, 40, organizer of UPDF (Prasit group) district unit and son of late Kison Chakma of Aparna Chowdhuripara in sadar upazila.Officer-in-charge of Sdar Model Police Station Mohammad Hannan said a group of miscreants tried to pick Mithun up in Sluice Gate area when he was returning home around 12:15 pm.When he tried to flee the miscreants opened fire on Mithun, leaving him injured.
Doctors declared him dead when he was taken to Khagracchari Sadar Hospital.Additional police were deployed in the area to fend off any trouble over the murder.UNB news agency
