US$ 14.46bn remittance inflow eyed this fiscal

The country’s remittance inflow in the immediate past fiscal year stood at US$ 14.46 billion, up by 12.59 percent compared to its preceding fiscal.According a provisional figure released by the Foreign Exchange Policy Department (FEPD) of Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Tuesday, the total remittance earning of the country from July last year to June this year stood at US$ 14.46 billion. It was US$ 12.84 in the fiscal 2011-12.
Of the total amount remitted to Bangladesh during the period, the highest inflow of US$ 1,453.69 million was recorded in October last year and the lowest inflow of US$ 1,057.63 million in June this year.
Of the remittance inflow in June, US$ 659.15 million came through private commercial banks, while US$ 371.66 million through state-owned commercial banks, US$ 12.11 million through two specialised banks and US$ 14.70 million through foreign commercial banks, according to the central bank statement. – UNB
