Victory Day celebrated in Faridpur

The 43rd Victory Day was celebrated here yesterday across the district through various

programmes with a renewed pledge to make the country prosperous and with the call

to execute the verdicts against the rest war criminals.

The day’s programme began with 31 gun salute at local police line along with hoisting

of national flag atop all private and public buildings. People of all ages and groups

thronged the martyred memorial plaque at Goalchamat area of the town to place floral

wreaths to pay homage followed by a victory rally that marched to a mass grave located

at the southern side of the stadium.

Colorful march past and parade participated by police, Ansar & VDP, BNCC, scout and

other school students was held at the local stadium where the ceremonial flag was

hoisted by Deputy Commissioner Abu Hena Morshed Zaman and Police Super Jamil

Hassan.

A reception function to accord honour to the families of the martyred and living

freedom fighters was held at Kabi Jasimuddin Hall.

Special prayers were offered at the mosques, temples and churches. Improved diet was

served at the jail, hospitals and orphan houses.

A football match was held between DC XI and Pourashava XI at the stadium in the

afternoon.

In the evening a discussion meeting on the universal implementation of the present

government’s digitization programme for making the country hunger and poverty free’

was held at Kabi Jasimuddin Hall. DC Abu Hena Morshed Zaman was the chief guest

while ADC (Gen) Md. Jahangir Hossain chaired the meeting.

Among others Freedom Fighters Shamsuddin Ahmed, Abul Faez Shahnawaj, NGO

activist Asma Akhtar Mukta and educationist Md. Isahaque Mia took part in the

discussion.

The meeting was followed by a cultural function presented by Faridpur Shilpakala

academy. -BSS, Faridpur
