Arrest order on Giasuddin Quader Chy: Threat to kill PM

Dhaka, May 31 – Two separate cases were filed with Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court against BNP’s Vice-Chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury yesterday (Thursday) for allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury is the younger brother of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury who sentenced to death for crimes against humanity.
Nazim Uddin, general secretary of Fatikchhari Upazila Awami League (AL) file a case with Metropolitan Magistrate Shaidullah Kaiser court’s while another case was filed with metropolitan magistrate Md Al Imran Khan’s court by former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chattogram city unit general secretary Nurul Azim Rony.
“The court of Shaidullah Kaiser taking the case into cognizance issued a warrant against Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury,” said Advocate Samir Das Gupta, the plaintiff lawyer. While the court of Md Al Imran Khan taking the case of Nurul Azim Rony ordered the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Panchlaish police station to take necessary action, said Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury, lawyer of Rony.
“Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury has been charged with threatening to murder to prime minister Sheikh Hasina and sedition,” said Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury.
Earlier on Wednesday, a case was filed against Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury and 40-50 unnamed people bringing the same allegations by Fatikchhari Upazila BCL president Jamal Uddin.
In a meeting on Tuesday held at Fatikchari Upazila in Chattogram on marking the death anniversary of former president Ziaur Rahman, Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury made a comment to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina “Your condition will be worse than your father”.
Over the case of Jamal Uddin, in the meantime, on Thursday morning police arrested two local BNP leaders—Masur Alam, 47 and Nurul Islam, 60 and they were produced before the court.
On Wednesday evening a group of 50-60 people attacked and vandalized Sala Uddin Quader Chowdhury’s Goods Hill Home of Rahamat Ganj area. They vandalized nine vehicles inside the home and two gates of the Goods Hill, alleged Nurul Absar, an employee of the Goods Hill. – Staff Reporter
