We must stride forward for democracy: Fakhrul

BNP leaders yesterday alleged that conspiracy is on to make party founder Ziaur Rahman as the vilen of history.Addressing the discussion meeting to mark 80th birth anniversary of late President Ziaur Rahman, they called upon the party leaders and activists to go forward by facing all conspiracies.

The leaders also alleged that conspiracies are also on to make the BNP weaken by creating disunity among other party.

“We must stride forward overcoming all the conspiracies. We have no way to back out,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He said conspiracy is on to make one, who was a great leader and pushed forward the country in all respects as a villen.

The BNP leader accused the government of even removing his (Zia’s) grave as well.

He alleged that thousands of cases were being instituted against party leaders and activists to weaken the party.

“There is none in the BNP or its front organisation who is without a case or without the victims of conspiracy. The entire country has been turned into a prison,” he said.

Standing committee member Khandaker Mosahhraf Hossain rejected the allegation that he came out of the jail making through an understanding with government.

Barrister Moudud Ahmed observed that the BNP must survive whether its goes to power or not.

The meeting was also addressed, among others, by Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, Prof Mustahidur Rahman, Shafik Rehman, Dr Mahbubullah and Prof Dr M Aminul Islam.
