Will elusive dialogue come real?

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged opposition BNP leader Khaleda Zia to sit for dialogue in any place –in or outside parliament–to resolve ongoing political crisis.The premier came up with the urge while addressing a view exchange meeting with Jhalokati district Awami League leaders at Gano Bhaban on Thursday morning.
The Prime Minister has given special thanks to opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as Khaleda withdrawn on May 2 hartal called by 18-party.
Press Secretary of Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad made the disclosure while talking to journalists on Tuesday.
Opposition BNP-led 18-party called off the May 2 hartal in response to urge of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and for the sake of Savar tragedy.
Opposition leader in the Parliament Khaleda Zia, also BNP chairperson, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday afternoon.
In the statement, Khaleda Zia said, “We are calling off the hartal for the sake of humanity and to give opportunity to the countrymen to be united during Savar tragedy in response to the call of the premier.”
Earlier on Monday Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance to withdraw hartal called of May 2 for the sake of Savar tragedy.
The main opposition BNP on Thursday asked for formal and specific proposals from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for dialogue.
Adviser to the BNP Chairperson Shamsuzzaman Dudu came up with the observation in a press conference at party’s Nayapaltan office.
Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, “There is no need of much discussion…we can talk only about who will be head of caretaker government after restoring it.”
He added: “Release all detained opposition leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to make the dialogue fruitful.”

Awami League general secretary has said at a function in the city that the government will soon send a written proposal to invite the main opposition BNP to talks.
