A private hospital staff was run over by a muggers’ car who tried to snatch her handbag in city’s Dhanmondi area early Friday.
The victim was identified as Helena Begum, a fourth-class employee of the Green Life Medical College Hospital in Green Road.
Dhanmondi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Parvez Islam said the incident took place around 5:30am when muggers from a car pulled her handbag and she fell down on road in Dhanmondi 7.
Then, Helena was crushed under the wheels of the car of the muggers, leaving her dead on the spot, the police officer added.
During the incident, Helena along with her husband Monirul Islam was crossing the road after getting down from a bus.
Earlier in the morning, they reached Sadarghat Launch Terminal from Barisal.
