Workshop on improving teaching standard ends

Participants  at a  3-day long training workshop and seminar of
religious teachers ended on Monday afternoon stressed on improving
teaching standard for quality education.
The  programme was organised and funded by Caritas Barisal region
under regional education commission of Chittagong Catholic Diocese in
collaboration with ‘formation of youth and teacher’s programme (FYTP)
at the Pastoral Retreat Center auditorium, Barisal.
Sister Marry Sangeeta, headmaster Narikel Bari High School, Kotalipra
and regional convener of the education commission, presided over the
concluding ceremony conducted by Simon Swapan Roy, assistant teacher
of Udayon School Barisal.
Among others Rev.Fr Nicolas Baroi, managing committee president,
Barisal Udayon School and priest of Barisal Catholic Church, as chief
guest, Sister M Archana, headmaster Saint Alfred High School
Padrishibpur, Cyprian Mukul Biswas, Ghorarpar Dipti Bhavan primary
school, Agoiljhara, as special guests.
The speakers said, although education is considered the backbone of
the nation and teachers as the workmen of human beings, modes of
better teaching and learning are yet to be standardized.
It is not only the head of an institution, but all teachers should be
jointly active in developing human ethics and values in the in the
institution.
Special trainings are needed for adopting different learning
procedures considering the types, merits, absorbing capacity of the
learners, they said.
One teacher may have personal beliefs, but it should not cause
difference of religion, caste, colour or community in teaching,
learning methods, they opined.
A total of 69 teachers including, forty-three female and twenty-six
males, of Christian, Hindu, Muslim communities working at the 4
missionary schools under Barisal region participated in the three-day
programme and discussed ‘ door of faith always open to all’ on
occasion of ‘year of faith 2012-13.’
The 3-day programme included seminar, discussions on inter-religious
relations and cooperation, development of education, educational
quality, special sessions on human ethics and values, talk-shows,
school based cultural performances, educational film and video
presentations, study tours of Sher-e-Bangla memorial museum at
Chakhar, Baitul Aman Jame Mosque at Guthia and Durgasagor Dighi at
Madhavpasha.
