Workshop on public interest litigation (PIL) held at RU

Rajshahi – A day long workshop on ‘Public Interest Litigation’ was held at Rajshahi University campus on Friday, says a press release.
Rajshahi Law Clinic, of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust organished the workshop at the Deans’ complex auditorium of the university.Dr. Hasibul Alam Prodhan, Clinic adviser, Rajshahi law Clinic of BLAST and also associate professor of RU Law department presided over the opening session.
Later, four training sessions were held while senior lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court Idris Rahman Adv, Barrister Jotirmoy Barua and BLAST Rajshhai unit coordinator Abdus Samad addressed the trainees as resource persons.
The experts highlighted recent developments in the case of public interest, its necessity and fields.
They emphasised that as the lawyer students come forwards in the public interest and stand by the side of the deprived people in the society. Speakers urged to the youths lawyers to take an oath to ensure as the poor and distress people get the right to justice.
About 50 students with some law teachers from RU and different private university’s law departments including Northern University of Bangladesh (NUB), Varendra University (VU) and North-Bengal International University (NBIU) participated in the day long workshop – RU Correspondent
