Dhaka – Bangladesh lost their second warm-up match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 against Pakistan by eight runs in a day-night affair at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Wednesday.Bangladesh started their warm-up mission with a six-wicket win against Ireland in Guyana on November 4, but failed to continue their dominance with the loss against Pakistan before starting their Group A campaign in the Women’s World T20 from November 9.
In their four-match group campaign, Bangladesh will face the hosts and current champions West Indies on November 9 before playing England (Nov 12), Sri Lanka (Nov 14) and South Africa (Nov 18).
In the day’s warm-up match, Salma Khatun’s companies finished on 98 for 9 in 20 overs against Pakistan’s 106 for 7 in 20 overs.
Fargana Hoque top-scored 28 off 41 balls with one boundary while Rumana Ahmed and unbeaten Lata Mondal added 10 runs each for Bangladesh.
Bismah Maroof [2/12], Aiman Anwer [2/13], Sana Mir [2/14] and Anam Amin [1/8] were the wicket takers for Pakistan.
Opening the innings with bat after winning the toss, Pakistan’s total was spurred by their four double digit scorers – Bismah Maroof [22 off 32b; 1×4], skipper Javeria Khan [21 off 15b; 2×4], Ayesha Zafar [18 off 25b; 2×4] and Nida Dar [19 off 16b; 2×4].
Khadija Tul Kubra [2/18], skipper Salma [2/19], Fahima Khatun [1/17] and Rumana Ahmed [1/20] were wicket takers for Bangladesh.UNB
