Wrist of Jubo Dal leader was amputated by a Chhatra Dal leader in Barisal on Sunday night and the victim was admitted at Dhaka Pongu Hospital on Monday in a critical condition.The victim was identified as Mainul Islam Helal, 31, and district Jubo Dal convening committee member and supervisor of Barisal Club and son of Rustam Ali of New Circular Road. Witnesses and police sources said Helal while returning to his working place on rickshaw at about 8:00 pm after iftar, his old rival Mahfuzur Rahman Mithu, joint convener of district JCD, chased and attacked him with sharp weapon in front of Circuit House and Shaheed Minar. Helal tried to save life taking shelter in a nearby sanitary equipment shop, but the attacker Mithu chopped him mercilessly.Helal received at least 11 injuries including on head, chest and his left wrist was amputated from the hand.Helal was rushed to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and from there referred to Dhaka Pongu Hospital.He was operated at Dhaka Pongu Hospital Monday morning, said Delwara Begum Dilu, paternal aunt of the victim.Few months earlier Mithu was also injured Helal by chopping and after released from Pongu Hospital Mithu took revenge, sources said. Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station in charge said Helal accused Mithu for the attack and till filing of this report no case was lodged in this connection as all relatives rushed to Dhaka with the victim. -Our Correspondent
