A writ has been filed with High Court challenging the legality of the recruitment of the Chief Election Commissioners and four commissioners.
Lawyer Delwar Hossain filed the writ on Sunday with the concerned bench of the HC. The hearing is likely to be held at the bench of Justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal. The Chief Election Commissioner, four commissioners, law secretary and secretary to election commission secretariat have been made respondents.
Lawyer of the petitioner Yusuf Ali said that there is clear direction in section 118 of the Constitution about formation of Election Commission but it was not followed during recruitment of the current CEC and the four commissioners.
