Nabi has called upon the young generations to take the responsibility for national
development with due patriotic zeal.
Expressing satisfaction over execution of Abdul Quader Mollah for war crimes, he
asked all citizens to save the country’s hard-earned independence through resisting the
anarchy and terrorism being conducted by the anti-liberation forces.
The VC, also a valiant freedom fighter, was addressing a discussion organised in
observance of the Victory Day-2013 at the hall room of the varsity’s Central Library on
Monday as the chief guest.
Professor Dr Sarifa Saloa Dina of the Department of Bangla presented her paper on ‘43
years of Independence: Flashback 1971’ in the discussion followed by a meeting
on ‘Recalling Memories of the war of Liberation and Stories’.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr Abu Kalam Md. Farid Ul Islam,
Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Md. Ferdous Rahman and Dean of the Faculty of
Arts Dr Nazmul Haque addressed as the special guests.
The Deans and Heads of all Faculties and Departments, teachers, students, officials and
employees of the university were present in the discussion moderated by Head of the
Department of Management Mohammad Rafiul Azam Khan.
Earlier, the VC formally launched observance of the Day by placing floral wreaths at
the Central Shaheed Minar in the campus at the zero hours and later at the altar of the
Muktijuddher Smritistambha ‘Arjan’ at Modern Mour in the city.
In the morning, Dr Nabi led a huge colourful ‘Bijoy Shovajatra’ participated by the
teachers, students, officials and employees of the university from the Central Shaheed
Minar to the Modern Mour and returned to the campus.
Deans and Heads of different Faculties and Departments, Bangabandhu Parishad,
Officers’ Association, Employees Association, Muktijuddher Chetonay Sammilito
Shikkhok Samaj, Muktijuddher Chetonay Progotisheel Parishad and different socio
cultural organisations of the university placed wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The varsity campus wore a festive look following observance of the Victory Day through
various colorful programmes those ended with the cultural functions at night with ‘Joy
Bangla’ slogan and fresh call for execution of all war criminals.
The VC termed the Historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu as the order, direction and
proclamation of Independence said that he participated in the War of Liberation in 1971
as per call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He demanded trial of all war criminals, al-badrs, razakars and alshams and anti-
liberation forces for the crimes they committed against humanity by killing thirty lakh
innocent Bangalees and violating modesty of our daughters, mothers and sisters in
