A young man and his brother-in-law were killed as a bus crashed into their motorcycle at Shibpur on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in Puthia upazila on Friday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Monayem, 30, son of Dalil of Bhalukgachhi village, and his brother-in-law Nazmul, 18, son of Nazim of Tarapur village in the upazila.Family sources said the Rangpur-bound bus of ‘Any Paribahan’ from Rajshahi crashed into the motorbike in the area around 3pm while they were going to Baneshwar Bazar, leaving them injured.Locals rescued them and rushed them to Puthia Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead. Officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station Abu Obaida said they seized the bus, but its driver managed to flee the spot.
