Accused in assaulting twin sisters in capital arrested

Dhaka – Rapid Action Battalion arrested the prime accused in a case filed over assaulting teenage twin sisters at Mirpur area on October 19 following their protests against abusive language used by him.
Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, Rab’s legal and media wing director, getting secrete information, a team of RAB-4 led by Major Md Abu Sayeed Khan conducted the drive and arrested Jibon Karim alias Babu.Replying to a RAB-4 commanding officer (CO) Khandakar Lutfar Kabir said, during the primary interrogation, Babu admitted that he was stalking the twin sisters for long times.
We have handed over him to the concerned police who are investigating the case, he added.
On Wednesday, Babu assaulted Fariha Habib and Ashowad Habib, 16-year-old, who are HSC first-year students of Mirpur BCIC College.
Oe of the sisters suffered a broken leg while the other a waist injury. They were also admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) for treatment.
The family members of the victims filed a case with Shah Ali Police Station against Babu, owner of a hotel located near the college gate.
Witnesses said that the sisters were waiting for a bus opposite the BCIC College at noon when Jibon Karim and three other men hurled abusive words at them. At one point, the men started assaulting the sisters.
Following the assault, students and teachers organized protest rally demanding immediate arrest of the culprit. – Staff Reporter
