Magura, June 04 – A case was filed against a young man for raping a schoolgirl in Ghoshpur village of Mohammadpur upazila in the district on Saturday.Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station Toriqul Islam said Nur Islam, 20, son of Barik Molla of Ghoshpur village allegedly raped the girl on Friday night.
Following the incident, victim’s mother filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station.
The victim was later sent to Sadar hospital where doctors found evidences of rape, he said.
Police were trying to catch the offender, he added.
In another case a schoolgirl was rescued from Gabtali in Dhaka on Saturday, nine days after her abduction from Shibrampur village of Sadar upazila of Magura district.
The Officer-in-charge of Magura Police Station Ilias Hossain said Jewel, 20, son of Jonab Ali of Shibrampur village abducted the girl of class seven of a local school on May 24.
Later, victim’s father filed a case with Sadar Police Station over the matter.
Being informed that Jewel is staying in Dhaka along with the abducted girl, a team of Magura Sadar upazila police led by SI Anima Rani Das raided a house in Gabtali in the capital and rescued the victim, said the OC.
Police also managed to arrest alleged abductor Jewel and he was produced before a Magura court on Sunday, he added. – – UNB
