12 girls return from India serving jail term

Dhaka – Twelve Bangladeshi young girls returned home from India on Thursday after languishing in jail there for three years.Those returned are Sathi Khan, 22, of Rajbari district, Sonia, 21, of Sreepur village in Magura district, Sima Akter, 23, Rupa, 25, and Nargis Sheikh, 22, of Dhaka, Mun Akter Pakhi, 23, of Khulna district, Lima, 22, Phul Bhanu, 20, and Nipa, 21, of Jessore district, Adhuri, 23, of Narail, Kalpona Anisha, 21, of Sirajganj district and Sefali, 21, of Mymensingh district.UNB news agencyIqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration police, said human traffickers sent them to India three years ago after alluring them of better jobs there.Later, Indian police arrested them on charges of illegal trespassing. They were later produced before a court which sent them to jail.On completion of their jail term, the girls were handed over to an Indian NGO.Finally, Indian immigration police handed them over to Benapole immigration police through Benapole check-post today noon.
