Police have banned the movement of 12 types of vehicles in Dhaka City on the polling day. The ban will be effective from Saturday midnight to Sunday midnight, said the city police in a statement on Saturday.The vehicles that have been banned are Baby-taxi, CNG-run auto-rickshaw, easy-bike, jeep, bus, taxi cab, pickup vans, truck, microbus, private car, tempo and motorcycle.
The ban will be relaxed subject to the returning officers’ clearance in case of any vehicle carrying candidate, agent, domestic and foreign polling observers, said the statement.
Media vehicles, fire service, power, gas, post and telecommunication and other public services have been kept out of the purview of the ban.
Those who have been exempted must carry identity cards of relevant institutions and organisations or clearance from the Election Commission.-bdnews24.com
