14 ACC teams to see graft in important govt institutions

Dhaka – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has formed 14 special teams to look into the corruption in 14 important government institutions.These special teams will monitor the whole activities of the government’s institutions and they will also investigate the specific allegations of corruption, if any found.
The special teams empowered to file cases against the corrupt officials, if the allegations of corruptions to be found proved primarily. The ACC gave the final approval of the special teams on Wednesday, ACC sources said.
Now, the corrupt officials of the government and the semi-government institutions have conducted their duties with more cautiously following the sudden move of the special teams. Soon after getting approval a special team of ACC visited the expatriate welfare department suddenly on Wednesday, sources added.
Talking to reporters ACC secretary Abu Md Mostafa Kamal said that the ACC has formed the special teams for investigating corruption in 14 government institutions.
In response to a query he said that their main work is to find out the source of corruption and why the corruption is happening in the government’s institutions. They will also look into the lacking, limitations and obstacles in government organisations as well as find out corruption and potential harassment of people while availing services at those organizations, he said.
Finally, the special teams will place their recommendations to the commission to prevent the corruption in government institutions. We hope that now the people will not face harassment and may get corruption free service following the ACC move, he noted.
Earlier, in September 2015, the ACC formed two task forces in order to investigate corruption in government institutions.
Before that in 2012, the anti-graft body formed 11 teams to look into corruption in 11 important government institutions.
In the latest development, the ACC formed the special team to investigate corruption in government institutions, which may help to reduce the corruption in the government institutions. – Staff Reporter
