Local parliamentarian Md Abu Jahir inaugurated 143 newly-built Shaheed Minars at government primary schools in the district on Monday.The schools are located in 11 unions of the Sadar and Shayestaganj upazilas.
Jahir, also the chief of ruling Awami League’s Habiganj unit, inaugurated the memorials through a video conference in the morning.
The Shaheed Minars were built to commemorate the historic Language Movement.
Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Kabir Murad, district police chief Mohammad Ulla, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shakhawat Hossain Rubel, hundreds of school students, and locals took part in the video conference, reports UNB from Habiganj.
