14cr-year old living species: Limbless amphibians found in Bangladesh

Jan 8: Two members of ‘Chikila Fulleri’, the 14 crore years living limbless amphibians, have been discovered hiding in the soils of Lawachara under the district Wednesday last.

Wild life specialist Reza Khan and wild life researcher Tania Khan found the two reptile like species which also proves that life existed in this region before 14 crore year.
The two new species, measuring 19 cm and 17 cm, limbless and soil-dwelling creatures were unearthed by the team of researchers and of the two one was set free while another one was taken to the capital for DNA test.
Earlier Indian researchers published an article about this creature in the ‘Royal Society of Journal’ of London on February last.
In the article it was reported that this creature came on this earth about 14 crore year ago.
These creatures are members of the caecilian order of amphibians, which look more like earthworms than their better-known classmates the frogs and toads, and can grow to be more than a metre long.
They build nests underground and brood their young there, as shown above with Chikila fulleri.
The researchers informed that this species cannot live in the dry places except in water.
This is a creature like a frog without any limb. This is not snake, not an earthworm, but they are amphibian creature. They have spine. They live deep into 10 inches soil. They live under the surface of the soil, take food, sleep and die there. No evolutionary change takes place in them.
The researchers told that people may think that it is earthworm or two faced snake. But we think that it is ‘chikila fulleri’ species.
After DNA test, it will be determined whether it is ‘chikila fulleri’ or not.
They further informed that the existence of this kind of species was found in India in last February.
In Indian Geological Survey Museum there is a drawing of this creature. They told that an Indian researcher Elcok disclosed this information about this creature in 1904.
Besides, more than 500 examples of the new family of caecilians were found in 58 locations in northeastern India.
Wild life researcher Tania Khan informed Banglanews that she sent one e-mail to Dr Reza Khan containing the picture of a skeleton of a Chikila Fulleri which she had found by the side of a fountain in Lawachara garden in last September.
Then primarily it was determined that it was the skeleton of ‘chikila fulleri’.
Then after obtaining permission of the Forest department along with their people they dug at the same spot and found out ‘chikila fulleri’.
Wild life specialist Dr Reza Khan told Banglanews that it has been proved 100 percent that ‘chikila fulleri’ is available here for which research is underway around the world.
Our researchers could not find it out so long or have no opportunity to do it.
He observes that our scientists and researchers should start research on this species right now.
Wild life researcher Monir Khan, reptile specialist Rokeya Sultana, wild life Inspector Sohel Rana, and wild life Inspector of Mowlovibazar Forest department were present at the very golden moment of finding out the species.
