Police arrested 15 activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami from different
places of Pirojpur and Sunamganj districts on Sunday
night,apprehending that they might create violence during the
opposition’s 60-hour hartal.
In Pirojpur, two BNP activists and 12 Jamaat men were arrested from
different upazilas of the district on Sunday night.
Police said separate teams of police conducted several drives and
arrested them to avert violence during the shutdown to be enforced
from Monday.
Away in Sunamganj, Jamalganj thana police arrested a Jamaat leader
from Jamalganj upazila headquarters for the same reason on Sunday
night.
The arrestee was identified as Taj Mahmud, 30, member of Sura
committee of Jamaat and son of late Abdus Sobhan of Bhandargaon
