1500 sued over traders-BCC employees clash in Barisal

Dhaka – A case was filed against over 1500 people in connection with Thursday’s clash between local traders and employees of Barisal City Corporation (BCC).Sub-inspector of Kawnia Police Station Ashraf filed the case against 26 named people and 1400-1500 unidentified people with the police station on Thursday midnight, said officer-in-charge of the police station Selim Reza on Friday.The case was filed for allegedly attacking policemen and BCC’s employees, and obstructing police while performing their duties, added the OC.The clash ensued when some traders attempted to obstruct a team of the City Corporation while conducting a drive to evict illegal establishments from Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and Kawnia housing areas of the city on Thursday noon.  Later police went to the spot and brought the situation under control through  charging baton on them.At least 20 people, including eight policemen and seven BCC employees, were injured in the clash.UNB
