Dhaka – Some 15,000 fishes of several species died suddenly at a pond at Tantikandi village in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.Locals informed that all of the fishes of the pond started to die from Friday night and in the next morning all the dead fishes were afloat on the water surface.Bazlu Mahmud, one of the two owners of the pond, said they could not identify the reason behind the death of those fishes.Sadar Upazila Fisheries Officer Shahjada Khasru said as there is no sign of poisoning or gasification in the pond, the fishes might have died due to a disease.
