Police arrested two people in possession of 27 fake currency notes amounting to Tk14,000 from Launch Ghat area in the city on Friday.The arrestees were identified as Sarwar Hossain,20, son of Afzal Hawlader, a resident of Baraia village in Rajapur upazila, and Arif Hawlader,19, son of Amjed Hawlader, a resident of Ruptali Mahmudia Madrasah area of the city.Assistant sub-inspector of Nani Buri police camp Nayeem said Sarwar and Arif handed some fake notes to the manager of a restaurant in the area after eating some food items in the morning.As the currency notes raised doubt in them, the restaurant owner informed it to the police.Later, police rushed in and arrested the duo.The law enforcers also recovered 26 fake notes of Tk500 denomination each and one fake note of Tk 1,000 denomination from their possession.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Barisal
