Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami and an activist of the party from Baghri village in Rajapur upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The arrestees were identified as Dr Hemayet Hossain, general secretary of Rajapur upazila unit Jamaat, and Nesar Uddin, activist of the party.
Police said they arrested the said men from Hemayet’s house around 2:30pm.
On Tuesday, during the first day of the Jamaat called 48-hour hartal, a bus was vandalised by pickets.
In the incident, police filed a case against nine people, including Hemayet and Nesar, while the rest were on the run. -UNB, Jhalakathi
