Police arrested two Jamaat-Shibir men from different parts of the city
on Friday suspecting their involvement in an attack on two Bangladesh Chhatra
League (BCL) The arrested were identified as Islam Uddin, president of Shahparan
thana unit Shibir and Sayed Farhad, a Jamaat activist.
Police said they arrested Islam Uddin from the city’s Lamapara area
and Farhad from Tilagarh area on Friday.
Aktar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shahparan thana, said two leaders
of Chhatra League were injured when they came under an attack by a group of miscreants
at Baluchar area in the city on Friday morning while going to Shahjalal University
of Science and Technology for appearing at an examination.
Himel, a Chhatra League leader of Sylhet Engineering College, filed a
case against 12 to13 Shibir men following the incident.
