Leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University Shah Makhdum
hall unit forced some Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists to join their
hall committee.
BCL source said, earlier on February 24, eleven members hall committee
was formed
while S M Khalilur Rahman Mamun and Hasan Shahriar were selected as
president and
general secretary. The others were vice presidents Raju Ahmed, Imtiaj
Ahmed, Mahfuz
Alam alias Arif and Osman Sarker, joint secretaries Sudipta Mahmud and
Arif Hasan, a
press release signed by newly made president Khalilur Rahman confirmed
it to journalists
on that day.
Meanwhile, the university unit JCD leaders alleged that BCL included
four JCD activists
JCD RU unit president Arafat Reja claimed that vice president Mahfuz,
joint secretary
Hasan Arif, member Shohagur Rahman and Golam Rabbani of BCL made committee are
the most active workers of JCD during many years.
“BCL, finding no activists for their awful image, has included the JCD
men to their
committee by threatening of dire consequence,” he added.
Contacted, Ahmed Ali, president of RU unit BCL told, we have given
posts to those who
were involved with our politics since many days.
They came to me for ensuring their posts adding they (BCL posted four)
might deny their
post for threatening of JCD leaders.
Mahfuz Alam, who was made vice president, told, “I am connected with
politics with
JCD since many years. BCL hall unit president Mamun forcibly included
me to that
committee. Fearing them (BCL), I left Room No 241 of the hall
immediately after the
formation of the committee’. Joint secretary Arif Hasan told about the same.
Shah Makhdum hall unit president denied the allegation and said that
they gave posts
who were dedicated for BCL.
