Savar, Feb 7 (UNB) – A madrasah student and an unidentified man died as a boat capsized in the Turag River here on Thursday afternoon.
The madrasah student was identified as Towhidur Rahman, 11.
Atiqur Rahman Khan Shanta, chairman of Kaundia union parishad, said the boat carrying several passengers sank in the middle of the river around 2pm after being hit by a trawler.
The duo went missing in the incident while other passengers managed to swim ashore.
On information, a team of divers from Mirpur Fire Service rushed in and retrieved the bodies after two hours.
Later, locals seized the trawler and caught its trawler master and three other workers.
