BNP called a 24-hour hartal in eight districts of Rajshahi division for Wednesday protesting filing of case against its Chairperson Khaleda Zia and demanding release of their detained party leaders and activists. Harun-or-Rashid, organising secretary of Rajshahi division unit BNP, announced the hartal through a press release on Monday.
The shutdown will remain in force from 6 am Wednesday to 6 am Thursday.
On Saturday, a case was filed against 50 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, including Khaleda Zia, in connection with Friday’s arson attack on a bus at Jatrabar that left at least 30 people burnt. – UNB
