RCC elects 3 panel mayors and 22 standing committee chairmen The present council of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has elected three panel mayors and chairmen of 22 standing commitees from among the 40 elected councilors including 10 reserved seats for women.
The election was held in the second general meeting of the council with RCC Mayor Mosaddeque Hossain Bulbul in the chair on Tuesday afternoon.
The elected panel mayors are: Anwarul Amin Azab, Nuruzzaman Titu and Nurun Nahar Begum.“I want to be a servant not stay as the city father. My door will remain open for all so that no one can say that the corporation did not listen to them,” Mayor Bulbul reiterated his commitment while
addressing the general meeting.He urged the newly elected panel mayors and standing committee chairmen to work together for fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the city dwellers and to build Rajshahi as a model city.“Creating employment opportunities will be one of my major tasks,”said the mayor.
“It will be one of my biggest challenges to create jobs for the unemployed youths of the city,” he said. He sought cooperation of all, irrespective of their political affiliations and ideologies in this regard.He observed that drug abuse has been a main concern of the city dwellers. He said adding, “I would do whatever it takes me to control the menace.”RCC Chief Executive Officer Ajahar Ali, Secretary AKM Masuduzzaman and some of the panel mayors and standing committee chairmen also spoke on the occasion. -BSS, Rajshahi
