3-5 lakh Myanmar nationals intruded into B’desh: FM

Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Monday said in Parliament that 3-5 lakh Myanmar nationals illegally entered Bangladesh on various occasions for economic reasons.Responding to a starred question of Begum Nilufar Chowdhury Moni (Women Seat-37), the Foreign Minister said the registered number of Myanmar refugees in the country is now 25,852,
“Of them, 10,603 Myanmar refugees are living in Kutupalong camp in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar district while 15,249 in Nayapara camp in Tekna’f upazila,” she told the House.
The Foreign Minister said additional 5000 Myanmar refugees have been included in the registered families.
Responding to another question from M Abdul Latif (Ctg-10), Dipu Moni said the present government has so far signed over 157 agreements and MoUs with foreign countries. (Source: UNB)
