3 electrocuted in Mithapukur bus

Three passengers of a night coach were electrocuted to death and two
others injured at Shalti Gopalpur point under Mithapukur upazila on
Thursday morning, police sources said.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mithapukur Thana Moazzem Hossain said the
tragic incident occurred when Panchagarh bound night coach ‘Ahsan
Paribahan’ from Dhaka was caught by roadside high voltage power supply
cables there at 8:30 am.
After driving from Dhaka to Pirganj on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway, the
driver diverted the coach to the Vendabari-Shalti
Gopalpur-Badarganj-Parbotipur road fearing untoward incident in
Rangpur on the highway due to ongoing 48-hour long transport strike.
As the Vendabari-Shalti Gopalpur-Badarganj-Parbotipur road is not
suitable enough for heavy vehicular traffic at places, the coach was
caught by cables of the high voltage roadside power supply line while
crossing Shalti Gopalpur point.
“The deceased were identified as Bayezid Hossain, 25, of Louhajong
upazila in Munshiganj, Nuruzzman, 35, of Chirirbandar upazila and
Sohel Rana, 25, of Kaharol upazila in Dinajpur districts,” the OC told
BSS at 12 this noon.
A case was field in this connection with Mithapukur police station,
the sources said.
