3 kidnapped cattle traders found dead in Bandarban

Bandarban  – Three cattle traders, who were kidnapped by miscreants here on Friday, were found dead in Deem Hill area of Thanchi upazila on Monday.Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Thanchi Police Station, said miscreants called the three cattle traders — Abu Bakkar, 27, son of Omar Hamza; Nurul Absar, 28, son of Mohammad Shafi; and Shahab Uddin, 30, son of Nurul Islam of Alikadam Bus Station area in Alikadam upazila, to the Deem Hill area on Friday over business purpose.When the trio reached the area, the miscreants looted their belongings and kidnapped them at gunpoint.Later, the kidnappers demanded Tk 3 lakh as ransom from their
families over phone.A general diary was lodged in this connection with Thanchi Police Station the following day.Following the filing of the GD, police arrested two tribal men on suspicion of their involvement in the incident. Later, they confessed to their involvement in kidnapping.Based on their confessional statement, a joint team of police and Border Guard Bangladesh conducted a drive in the Deem Hill area today and recovered the slaughtered bodies of the three farmers around 12:30 pm.The bodies were taken to the Thanchi Police Station.As the news of the killing spread around, locals brought out a procession in Alikadam area.At one stage, the agitated mob beat up a tribal man — Jongshan Tripura — mercilessly in Alikadam Bus Station area. On information, army personnel rushed in and rescued him.Army men took position at main points of the upazila to avert further trouble. (UNB)
