Police arrested three local activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir from a procession in Pateshwari Bazar area of the district town on Tuesday morning.The arrestees were identified as Ershad, Shahidul and Jalil, activists of the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. Kurigram senior assistant superintendent of police Masud Alam said a group of Shibir activists brought out a procession in support of the hartal in the area in the morning.Informed, police tried to disperse the Shibir men and a chase and counter-chase took place between them and the activists.At one stage, the law enforcers opened fire on the procession and arrested the trio from the spot. -UNB, Kurigram
