At least four people were killed and seven others injured when a truck collided head-on with a human hauler (locally called Nosimon) at Tekerhat on the Dhaka-Barisal highway in Maksudpur upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Kanai Ojha,45, of Jalirpar village, Noya Khan,60, of Char Prasannadi village and Merajul,50, of Noyakandi village of Maksudpur upazila and Kamona Biswas,28 of Danyabari village of Sadar upazila.
Police said the accident took place in the area at about 6:30 am when the speeding truck collided head-on with the human hauler coming from the opposite direction, leaving four passengers of the human hauler dead on the spot and seven others injured.
The injured were rushed to Rajoir Upazila Health Complex.
Informed, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
