4 killed by BSF in Tahirpur in 45 days

Four Bangladeshi nationals were killed by Indian Border Security Force
(BSF) on Tahirpur border in the district in the last one and a half
months.
Besides, 10 Bangladeshis were arrested by the Indian border force
during the period.
They are now in different jails of the neighbouring country.
According to an investigation, Abu Sufian, 30, son of Amir Uddin of
Laurgarh village, drowned in the Jadukata river near pillar no-1200
after being chased by BSF troops while trying to enter Indian
territory illegally for lifting stones on May 12.
On May 21, Nur Uddin, son of Nizamuddin of Dhalarpar village, met the
same fate in the river after getting struck with a speedboat following
a chase by Indian border guards.
Bakul Mia, 26, son of Sutia Mia of Amtoil village, died in a cave of
smuggled coal after being chased by BSF members on May 18.
On June 22, Abul Hashem, 35, of Azimpur village of Mohanganj upazila
of Netrakona district was caught and beaten by people of Khasia tribe
and handed over to BSF camp where he died.
BSF arrested Shukur Ali, 35, Shajahan Mia, 30, Nayeb Ali, 45, and
Pahar Ali, 36, of Moksedpur village from India’s Gumaghat area when
they went there through the Jadukata river to collect stones on May
11.
On May 15, Khokon Mia, 42, son of Shafiqul Islam of Chandpur village,
and Saddam Hossain, 15, son of late Jasim Uddin, were arrested by BSF
from Rajai border while smuggling coal, on May 12, Mati Mia, 37, was
arrested while smuggling liquor and ganja, Ratan Mia, 25, was arrested
from Burunga Chhara border and on June 7, Sadek Mia, son of Abdur
Rahim of Kalipur village, was picked up from Ghumaghat.
Earlier, Dulal Mia, son of Siraj Mia of Lamakata village, was arrested
by BSF along with a big consignment of liquor from Longjuri Bazar of
India.
He jumped out of a speeding vehicle while being taken by it to
Gomaghat Police Station.
He returned home in a seriously injured condition.
Besides, BSF arrested three Bangladeshis from Dalura border in
Bishambharpur upazila and they were released after a flag meeting
between the two border forces.
On June 2, BSF seized four ‘barki’ boats on charge of intruding into
India but workers of the boats managed to escape.
Sunamganj-8 Border Guard Battalion commander AKM Maksudul Haque said
BGB never gives any opportunity to anyone to enter India illegally.
A section of poor people of the bordering areas go to India illegally
to pursue their livelihood; consequently, such unwarranted incidents
