Police in an overnight drive arrested 40 people including a Jamaat activist from eight upazilas of the district.Sub-inspector Kumkum of the Special Branch of Satkhira police, said police conducted a drive in different areas of eight upazilas in the district from Sunday night to Monday morning and arrested them.
Among the arrestees, 13 people were from Sadar upazila, seven from Koloroa, two from Tala, five from Kaliganj, five from Shymnagar, 3 from Ashashuni, 3 from Debhat and two from Patkelghata.
The arrestees are accused in several cases including those for sabotages, added the SI.
