46 Jhalakati BNP men sent to jail

A court here has sent 46 local BNP leaders and activists of Rajapur
upazila to jail in two cases filed on charges of vandalising the local
police station and obstructing police from discharging their duties.
District Judicial Magistrate M Al Amin passed the order rejecting the
bail prayers of the 46 BNP men out of 49 in the police station
vandalism case under the speedy trial act when they surrendered before
the court on Monday afternoon seeking bail.
The court, however, granted bail to three others.
On June 22, a clash took place between police and BNP workers as
police obstructed their procession in the upazila headquarters,
leaving five cops injured.
Outraged, the BNP men also vandalised Rajapur Police Station.
Later, police filed two cases against 55 people for vandalising the
police station and against 68 for obstructing the law enforcers from
performing their duties. -UNB, Jhalakati
