50 injured over clash in Sunamganj

At least 50 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over the possession of a land at Kumankandi village in Chhatak upazila on Tuesday.

Twenty of the injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Police and witnesses said Amirul Islam of the village had long been at loggerheads with his fellow-villager Maksud Mia over a piece of land.

On Tuesday afternoon, supporters of both groups had an altercation that was followed by a clash, leaving the 50 people injured. Police were deployed in the area to fend off further trouble. –UNB, Sunamganj
