Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive seized 500 kilograms of jatka (hilsa fry less than 10 centimetres in length) from two launches in the Meghna River here early Wednesday.
On a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard, led by its commander Lieutenant M Habibur Rahman, conducted a drive in Dhaka-bound MV Rajhongso-8 and MV Samrat-2 of the river at about 1:00 am and seized 500 kilograms of jatka, said Coast Guard sources. However, the seized fish owners managed to flee the scene.The seized fish were distributed among the destitute people and orphans. -UNB, Chandpur
