58 HC benches formed with 93 judges

Dhaka June 20 – Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Wednesday constituted 58 benches of the High Court Division with its 93 judges for disposing of cases after reopening of the court on June 24. Both the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court went on annual vacation on June 1 and will reopen on June 24.
Of the 58 benches of the High Court, 36 are two-member (Division) benches and 22 are one-member (Single bench).
They will deal with the cases from 10:30 am during their scheduled working days, according to a notice issued by the Chief Justice. The notice was published on the SC website.
The number of HC judges stood at 98 after 18 Additional Judges were appointed for two years on May 30.
Of the 98 High Court Judges, three are dealing with the war crimes cases in the International Crimes Tribunal and two now on leave, a SC Registrar office source said. – Special Correspondent
