A court here on Monday placed six suspected members of banned militant outfit ‘Neo-JMB’ on a three-day remand each in a case filed with New Market police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Those remanded are M Jahidul Islam alias Zoha, alias Botol alias Mashrur,23, M Abu Bakar Siddique alias Abu Mohammad, 19; Mohamadullah Adnan, 19; Mehedi Hasan Imon alias Abu Hamja, 21, M Khalid Saifullah alias Abu Mushab, 19, and M Shamsuddin Al Amin alias Abu Ahmed, 20.
Metropolitan Magistrate Nurunnaher Yeasmin passed the order after Inspector M Monirul Islam of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand.
A CTTC team arrested the six suspected ‘Neo-JMB’ members from New Supermarket area of the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Some Neo JMB members, numbering 10-11, gathered in the area to plan killing of progressive Alem-Ulamas who oppose religious extremism, he said.
A case was filed with New Market police station against the six militants on Monday under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
