7-day drive to ensure jute packaging from May 15

Dhaka – The government will conduct a weeklong special drive across the country from May 15, aiming to ensure the use of jute bags in packaging of 17 products and stop use of polythene bags. UNB news agency reported
The decision was disclosed in a coordination meeting at the Textiles and Jute Ministry with State Minister of the ministry Mirza Azam in the chair on Sunday.
The drive will be conducted on roads, waterways, land ports, goods-carrying vehicles, producing, packaging, export-import organizations through mobile courts to ensure use of jute bags to pack 17 products including rice, paddy, wheat, corn, fertilizer, sugar, chilly, turmeric, ginger, pulse, coriander, potato, flour etc.
The drive will be conducted with the help of Home, Environment & Forests, Road Transports and Bridges, Shipping, Textiles and Jute and other ministries concerned, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), police and district administration.
