9th Wage Board awaits name of owners’ representative: Inu

Sangsad Bhaban – Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Sunday told Parliament that the 9th Wage Board for journalists will be announced soon after the media outlet owners name their representative for the board. UNB news agency reported
“The Information Ministry has already taken the move to constitute the 9th Wage Board for journalists considering the prices of daily essentials and overall economic condition. The process of forming a committee with Justice Nizamul Huq as its chairman has started,” he said during a question-answer session.
The minister said the journalists and employees of the media outlets have already named their representatives for the wage board. “But the owners are yet to give us their representative’s name. We’ll announce the 9th Wage Board soon after getting the name.”
Mentioning that over four years have elapsed since the 8th Wage Board was announced in 2013, Inu said the government has started the process for forming the 9th Wage Board considering the market prices and overall economic condition.
Mentioning that the government is just an intermediary here, he said the owners and journalists will take decisions over revising salaries and allowances.
