he government has promoted 70 Deputy Secretaries to the rank of Joint Secretaries barely two months after a similar promotion of 326 others.
The move comes as the government nears the end of its tenure.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued an order on Tuesday to this effect.
Earlier on Jul 18, another 326 Deputy Secretaries were promoted to the post of Joint Secretaries. They had joined work in 1984, 1985 and 1986, according to ministry officials.
Altogether 649 public administration officials were given promotions on Feb 8 last year.
Among them, 127 were promoted from the level of Joint Secretary to Additional Secretary, 264 Deputy Secretaries became Joint Secretaries and 258 came to be Deputy Secretaries from being Senior Assistant Secretaries. – bdnews24.com
